Which ever dumbass that said “honesty is the best policy” is a fucking liar.
I read enough news articles to know this, if you want to preserve your freedom (that is, the very little remaining freedom that you still have under this ultra-capitalistic world), you have to lie, otherwise you will end up in a place wose than prison.
Well yeah, subjective honesty is useful in a lot of social interactions. But this isn’t lying to your boss or teacher or whatever. This is lying to your therapist. They have very little authority over you and an official interest in your wellbeing. It might be a good idea to lie if you are actually a suicide risk and don’t want to get institutionalized or if you are actively planning a crime which isn’t covered by confidentiality. But otherwise, you’re hurting yourself by not letting them effectively work on your problems.
Hmm I wonder how the people in the little mid huts manage to live without bills, debts, mortgages, streaming services, Walmart… But yeah… You keep doing exactly what you’re supposed to do and we’ll both watch it all burn.
yeah, I wonder how they do that with their lack of modern medical treatment where the common flu is lethal and can wipe out their entire village. But yeah… You keep making up bullshit to troll with and I’ll keep pointing out flaws in whatever foolishness you vomit out.
Therapy is usually voluntary, and the people going are going for a reason and that’s usually to better themselves or help themselves in some way. So lying is just a massive waste of money and time.
If you wanna see an even more massive waste of time and money, just mention to the wrong therapist that you have thoughts of suicide. Then you get a nice 72 hour forced hold at a facility that will then charge you thousands of dollars for the privilege of being involuntarily held there.
Just Lie.

Don’t listen to this person.
Idk. I lived half my life honestly and I was kicked down and passed by alot.
when I started to not tell the truth (not so much lie, just not whole truths) I started getting much further in life.

Oh sure. If you gauge success by the definition provided by capitalism then yeah, being more like a sociopath is beneficial.
being able to feed, clothe, and shelter myself and my family is my definition of success.
paying my debts on time and not living paycheck to paycheck is also a metric of success for me.
I can’t imagine any other world where those metrics aren’t used to determine success. capitalist or not.
if wanting my family to be cared for makes me a sociopath, then so be it.

Might come down to what direction you want to go far in, I think.

Not that I go to therapy anymore, but you could still get some benefits of therapy without saying “I wanna wanna jump of a bridge right now”.
Ironically, if I had said that, I’d be dead, because they’d lock me up and I would fucking hate life even more and I would have killed my self.
It’s so ironic, the more they try to “help” you, the more harm it does.

But hey, at least you were honest.
