Most of us just want the same old smoothbrain fucked-out good-guy-vs-bad-guy stories rendered in terms of the popular issues of the hour. (politics). With some aliens and spaceships.

Don’t forget to add just the right amount of ultraviolence. But you might be in the wrong community. I think sci fi is pretty popular here… and it always inevitably says something about the issues of the present day in which it’s written.
It isn’t always and it isn’t inevitable. Some scifi writers really do have amazing new ideas that have nothing to do with politics.
