I definitely agree. I’m more just talking about the search for life though, not necessarily going for a visit lol. If we somehow search our entire galaxy for life and don’t find any, naturally the next step would be to start looking through another galaxy - I’m just trying to illustrate just how massive a search that would be.
Right, a few dozen light-years is like… Less than a rounding error lol. The Milky Way galaxy alone is like 100,000 light years across, and around 1000 light years thick. If we treat the Milky Way as a cylinder, that’s a volume of roughly 8 trillion cubic light years to sift through.
Granted, a cylinder is a massively naive simplification for calculating the volume of the galaxy and probably way overestimates things. But even dropping that estimate down several orders of magnitude, billions, or even millions of cubic light years is still an unimaginably large region to search for life. And that’s just one galaxy. There’s billions of galaxies (that we know of), and some are even bigger than the Milky Way. Searching through all of that for life, especially when we don’t really know exactly what to look for, is a hilariously huge task.

I drink one 300g cup of coffee a day, except on very rare instances where I’ll have like two or three cups in a day. My average daily caffeine intake is probably around ~100mg, which is well under any demonstrably dangerous limits that I’ve seen.
I think it’s supposed to be a commentary on how painkillers are widely available and overused to cover up larger health issues, which snowballs into larger and larger health issues
Could you be more specific about the negligible health benefits of coffee and the downsides of caffeine? As a regular coffee drinker, I’ve done some searching to try and gauge the long-term risks of consuming ~100-200mg of caffeine per day, and couldn’t really find anything. The medical sources I’ve seen basically say the long term risk is practically non-existent unless you have a specific sensitivity to caffeine, but I’m curious if you’ve seen something different.

Two big things I’ve noticed:
They removed the Chromecast queue feature. So if I’m casting to my TV, I can either play one video at a time, or I can enable autoplay and see what the algorithm decides to serve me - I can’t queue up a few videos and just watch those, like I used to be able to.
Playlists are becoming harder and harder to use. Finding the button to add a video to a playlist, moving videos from one playlist to another, and managing playlists in general has all become more difficult recently.
There’s really just one rule in the basic euchre ruleset I know that you can’t break: failing to follow suit. Doing that ends the hand and results in points for your opponent.
You are kinda right about your cards predetermining play though - once you get really good and are playing with other people who are really good, whole rounds can be played in minutes, because everyone just knows what to play.

What I don’t get is the inaction from the democratic party on changing the voting system between elections.
The Democrats didn’t secure a large enough majority in previous elections to overcome Republican resistance to changing things like FPTP voting or the electoral college.
There is a lot of contention within the Democratic party (at the federal level at least) as it shifts further towards the right in an effort to remain in power. Getting rid of FPTP voting would make it harder for centrist/right leaning Democrats to remain in power.
Several states have switched to RCV for some of their elections, and progress has been slow, but it’s being made. If you want to see more, elect people that prioritize implementing better voting systems.
This take is comical. Trump ran for president in 2000 then did fuck all politically except hoard wealth until the 2016 run. Harris has been in political positions and actively working in politics for over two decades. Regardless of age, if anyone works for 20 straight years at something, it’s fair to say they’ve made a career of that thing.

IDK, I kind of agree with them. As a 90s kid, the originals didn’t really impress 12-year-old me. The acting was amateurish and cheesy, the “special effects” were cheesy, the story was extremely cliche by that point, the writing was 18-month aged Parmesan cheesy. To 12-year-old-me, the prequels had slightly better acting, better special effects, a much more compelling and interesting story, and the writing was still pretty cheesy. Maybe the dark, brooding main character really did it for my 12-year-old emo self, I dunno. But yeah, I don’t think it’s that crazy to prefer the prequels to the original trilogy. Like, looking back, neither trilogies really hold up, but the originals are very much propped up pretty much just because they were “revolutionary” nearly fifty years ago.
That experience is highly dependent on the Linux distro you’re using. Steam comes preinstalled on gaming-centric distros like Nobara or Pop!_OS. More “general purpose” distros like Mint or Ubuntu might require adding an apt repository before you can install steam from their GUI package managers, but adding an apt repo can be easily accomplished with a GUI as well.
Basically, if there’s no guide for installing steam for a given distro, or the process of installing steam is more than a couple easy steps, that specific distro probably isn’t well suited to run steam.
