  • I would expect a massive nerf/devaluation of rewards if there’s no poor people getting exploited.

I say this as someone who pays for all his family vacations almost entirely with points. About every year and a half. This time was Texas for the eclipse. Before that it was Disney world for my kids 5th birthday. Before that was COVID times and I used my points to buy hardwood floors that I installed throughout my house. Before that it was SC for the eclipse.

  • That’s the point of tariffs…to give domestic supply a shot.

It’s stupid and short-sighted in a modern economy. It’s not worth it for any manufacturer to shut down existing mega factories and build new ones here. They won’t find enough people to do the jobs (especially if we deport/denaturalize a ton of people) and the costs and re-investments are huge.

Plus the only places that are left to build giant factories are distant from population centers. And I doubt there will be mass transit into them. So more pollution from personal transportation. And more pollution from local factories. Ripping the EPA to shreds will help with that, and that’s a part of agenda 47.

And you just know the ones that choose to come and build here are gonna get really nice tax breaks to do so, so there won’t be any real return for the community for a long time, if ever.

The end result is either they pass the costs into consumers, or they cut costs by laying off their expensive state-side employees and moving their positions abroad. American middle-class loses bigly either way.

  • You are embracing fascism as long as it’s your guys.

    That’s the problem.

There’s no winning. Democrats embrace fascism, everyone loses. Democrats play by the rules, Democrats lose.

It’s not for lack of trying. Congress has been too split for too long, Republicans care more about open-carrying to committee meetings than to get anything actually done. They get to make the Democrats look bad by dragging their heels and voting no on anything they bring up. And that makes them heroes, somehow.

  • Literally the oldest president-elect in American history, but keep acting like age matters.

It’s attitude. It’s playing by the rules or bending them. Republicans figured out the cheat codes…they can bend the rules and win, or at the very least not lose. Because you can’t, honestly, compete with that. It’s impossible. Lies are far easier to create than they are to refute.

So either Dems have to go low, and lower the bar further, bend the rules more, and be just as guilty of breaking democracy as the GOP…or they can play clean and lose. There is no winning for the Democrats, and there is no losing for the Republicans. They found the cheat codes.

What’s more, they got seized control of the anti-cheat (SCOTUS) 4 years ago. Stubbornness is a part of it, sure…RBG was too stubborn to leave at an opportune time…but let’s not kid ourselves over GOP hypocrisy when it came time to fill her seat, and let’s not consider whether or not Trump is stubborn.

Republicans can do no wrong, but Democrats have to be perfect.
